Question 489

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? I came across Isaiah 26:19,20 & 27:1 can you explain?

Isaiah 26:19-20 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. (20) Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.

Isaiah 27:1 In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

Answer:

This is a FUTURE bible prophecy that will take place at the end of the Seven Year Tribulation period and at the very beginning of the Lord Jesus 1,000 year earthly reign .

The dead men shall live – The Prophet Isaiah is not only speaking about himself ( together with my dead body) but also about the resurrection of the Old Testament saints and the christians that had died during the 7 yr tribulation.

In V20 Come, my People is referring to the Nation of Israel.

hide thyself refers to the time when the Jews will run to the City of Petra for safety from the Anti-Christ when he tries to kill them ( the indignation) (see Q & A 406) as it were for a little moment is the last 31/2 years of Tribulation Period when this takes place KNOWN also as the Great Tribulation mentioned in Matthew 24:21.

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Chp. 27, Verse 1 is very tricky to understand The leviathan the piercing serpent is speaking about Satan.

Revelation 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years.

NOTE: Revelation Chp. 20 refers satan to a dragon thirteen times.

In that day = at the end of the Seven year Tribulation.

the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan – The Lord punishes satan by placing him and his angels (known as demons) in the Bottomless pit according to Revelation 20:1-3.

Revelation 20:1-3 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. (2) And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, (3) And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

And he (The Lord) shall slay the dragon (satan and his demons) that is in the sea – The Lord will at the end of his 1,000 year earthly reign will cast satan, the angels (demons) that followed him along with all the lost people at this time into the Lake of Fire.

Revelation 20:7-15 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, (8) And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. (9) And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. (10) And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (11) And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. (12) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. (13) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. (14) And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. (15) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

That is in the sea – This Could be a reference to people because in scripture people are refered to water and a sea therefore satan who is cast into the Bottomless Pit was among the people (through his false preachers, ministries etc) decieving them with his false doctrines.

Isaiah 17:12-13 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters! (13) The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
