Question? My pastor is conducting a preach fest and he is asking us men to give a 5 to 10 minute sermon, Can you give some words of encouragement?
Answer: Yes I will…
First of all what an AWESOME opportunity.
My pastor Dr. Max Younce did this on occasion to BUILD UP our confidence and to HELP US to intelligently defend the Word of God.
In 1 Corinthians 9:16 the Bible states…
For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
The word WOE means Judgement, In other words we bring the “Corrective hand of God”, The loss of Blessings here on earth, and Rewards later in heaven if we fail to do the Lord’s Will, which is DECLARING the “Clear Gospel” message – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 and his word WITHOUT COMPROMISE – 2 Timothy 4:2.
Another thing to CONSIDER is that wherever the Apostles went they SPOKE BOLDLY, they were NOT AFRAID to point out Error, False Doctrine, and Preach the Gospel whenever they had opportunity and neither should we.
Acts 9:22-27,29 But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ. (23) And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him: (24) But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him. (25) Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket. (26) And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple. (27) But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. (29) And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.
Acts 13:52, 14:1-3 (52) And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost. 14: (1)And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed. (2) But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren. (3) Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
Acts 18:24-26 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. (25) This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. (26) And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.
Acts 19:6-8 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. (7) And all the men were about twelve. (8) And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.
IN CONCLUSION:
2 Timothy 4:2 SETS the standard in which ALL christians SHOULD strive for BECAUSE that is where OUR Blessings, Rewards, Joy, and TRUE Happiness comes’ from.
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
