Question? Please help with John 4:34?
John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
Answer:
The word MEAT is the Greek word BROMA and it literally means FOOD, and here in this verse Jesus is using it here to mean Nourishment.
In V33 the disciples as indicated HAD THOUGHT that he (Jesus) was in need of food.
John 4:33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
What Jesus meant in V34 was that he “Got TRUE nourishment” by GAINING souls for heaven.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth (on the Cross), will draw all men unto me (through the Gospel).
In Conclusion:
Every christian SHOULD Desire, Hunger, and have Tunnel Vision in reaching souls for Christ with the Gospel.
John 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
The christian NEEDS to put on spritual blinders (so to speak) to block out ALL OTHER distractions of the world that would hinder that goal.
1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
