Question? I have been raised and taught since my youth in a religion that said theTrinity is a lie, I am searching for answers to this, can you help?
Answer:
Well you CERTAINLY came to the RIGHT PLACE.
To begin with, let’s go to 1 John 5:7…
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
The Bible makes clear that God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit although being three distinict individuals are all one and the same God.
A good place to show proof text of the this is found in Luke 3:22, which says…
And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
Here in this one verse you have mentioned of the Holy Spirit, a voice from heaven who is God the Father, and Upon Him My Beloved Son which is Jesus Christ.
Luke 3:22 collaborates with what 1 John 5:7 has stated.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (14) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
In Genesis 1:1 the word GOD is in the PLURAL. The Hebrew word is ELOHIYM and it means THREE or more, so by that fact, God (the Father), Jesus Christ (the Word), and the Holy Spirit were ALL together INVOLVED in the creation of the Earth and the entire Universe.
And again in Genesis 1:26 TAKE NOTICE of the words LET US…
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Here again we have God SPEAKING in the plural (LET US) showing that the Holy Spirit, the Lord Jesus Christ along with the Father (God) were all involved in the making of man.
And yet again TAKE NOTICE of the words WE and OUR in John 14:23…
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and WE will come unto him, and make OUR abode with him.
I could show many more verses from scripture that prove the Doctrine of the Trinity, BUT, I feel these few are sufficient
In Conclusion:
The point is as simple as this… You either BELIEVE the scriptures and Trust Christ and his payment alone for your sins or you don’t, I simply CANNOT put this anymore straight foward than that.
2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later
The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
