Question 607

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? In Romans, Chapter 2, Verse 5, is the “Day Of Wrath” speaking about being cast into the Lake of Fire?

Romans 2:5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God.

Answer:

No, it is not.

The Day of Wrath is speaking about the Seven Year Tribulation Period.

Here are a couple of supporting verses…

Verse #1…

1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Take note that we are told that God HAS NOT appointed us to wrath but rather to obtain salvation.

The word WRATH here is referring to the Seven year Tribulation period, and the word SALVATION is speaking of the Rapture.

Being that the Apostle Paul is speaking to christians, 1 Thessalonians 5:9 is pointing to a YET future event.

In other words 1 Thessalonians 5:9 is saying …

For God hath not appointed us to go through the seven year tribulation period, but to be Raptured by our Lord Jesus Christ.

The two qualifying factors that bears this out are…

#1 The Apostle Paul is speaking to christians.

#2 In every chapter in 1st Thessalonians the Return of Christ is mentioned.

Therefore the word WRATH must be speaking of the Seven Year Tribulation Period not Hell or the Lake of Fire and SALVATION is referring to the Rapture.

Verse #2…

1 Thessalonians 1:10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

Take Note of the word WHICH & FROM.

Here I must POINT OUT a translation error that has caused a lot of confusion and that is the words WHICH & FROM, in which they SHOULD HAVE been translated as the words WILL and BEFORE respectfully.

I must ALSO point out that it is important to understand the difference between Inspiration, Translation and Context.

Context: Being that the Return of Christ (The Rapture) is in view (And to wait for his Son from heaven) the NEXT EVENT on God’s time table AFTER the Rapture is the TRIBULATION PERIOD, this agrees with other scriptures on the subject (read Isa. 26:21, Rev. 6:17) that is spoken of by Jesus Christ in Matthew Chp.24.

Inspiration: The original manuscripts were penned perfectly WITHOUT error, They were DIVINELY INSPIRED.

2 Peter 1:20-21 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. (21) For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Translation: The KJV although SUPERIOR and the best available in the English language today, it IS NOT inspired or perfect as the KJV ONLY people proclaim, It is a TRANSLATION, A COPY from a long line of copies (5,000 +) that were copied from the original manuscripts.

To the credit of the Kjv Bible translators, even though NOT divinely directed as the writers of the original manuscripts were. (Q & A #393) but to the best of their human ability strove WITH diligence to create a text of the scriptures that not only HONORED God the Father, but one that also PLEASED their King in which the Kjv is named after.

In Conclusion:

Therefore 1 Thessalonians 1:10 SHOULD READ as follows…

And to wait for his Son from heaven whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, WILL Rapture us BEFORE the Seven year Tribulation period to come.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
