Question 637

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? In Matthew 7:6 What is Jesus trying to say?

Matthew 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

Answer:

If you look at the five previous verses, Jesus is talking about Judging.

Judgement and discernment is the context matter of these verse.

Unfortunately Matthew 7:6 is another verse that has been VICTIMIZED and misunderstood by MANY.

The Connotation of verse 6 IS NOT that we should not present the Gospel to the outcast of society, for Jesus accompanied himself among those that were considered Down and outers, Lowlifes, and those that were looked down upon by the public, ESPECIALLY by the religious leaders.

Mark 2:14-16 And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him. (15) And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. (16) And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?

Verse 6 is basically saying, Don’t waste precious time on those that are not interested in knowing, or hearing the truth of God’s Word or the Gospel AFTER they have been told, and the reason is given at the end of the verse… Lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

In other words, To take what was said (in this case the Word of God,The Gospel) and mentally stomp it flat through unbelief and then make fun of or mock you for trying to tell them.

Titus 3:10 states…

A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject.

In Conclusion:

There is nothing you can do to make a person believe, as the old saying goes… You can lead a horse to water, But, you cannot make them drink.

and another that I have heard many times… You cannot want more than what a person wants for themselves.

God gave everyone he had created a Free Will, and that Free Will comes WITH a decision for everyone to make.

– Decision #1)… Believe the record (the Word Of God) that God gave of his son (Jesus Christ) and Trust Christ and his payment alone for their sins and live in heaven for eternity.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

– Decision #2… Don’t believe the Word Of God, Reject Christ payment, and spend eternity in place called The Lake Of Fire.

2 Thessalonians 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as YOUR savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou (you) shalt (will) be saved – Acts 16:31

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
