Question? What is the Leviathan in Job Chp. 41
Answer: The answer is really not what BUT WHO.
The whole Chapter 41 of Job REALLY is describing a intelligent being that cannot be fooled or tricked.
1 Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?
So the question remains WHO IS this being… The answer is rather simply… SATAN.
Satan cannot be fooled or tricked, for he is the MASTER DECEIVER.
1Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
To establish that Leviathan is satan here a some verses…
Job 41:6 Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?
All of satan’s false teachings are transferred (shall they part him among the merchants)?
from one person to the next.
Job 41:19-21 Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out. (20) Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron. (21) His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
All these description decept a dragon. In scripture satan is described as a dragon…
Rev 12:3 – 4 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. (4) And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
Let’s examine one last verse in Isaiah 27:1…
In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.
Satan is also described in scriptures as a serpent…
Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Isaiah 27:1 is a future prophecy of the second (2nd) Battle of Magog where Satan gathers up a army of gentile individuals to do battle with the Lord Jesus and all his saints, And as Isa. 27:1 with in agreement of Rev. 20:7-10 states that the Lord God WILL SLAY satan (Leviathan, Serpent, Dragon) and all the people(sea) that are with him.
Revelation 20:7-10… (7) And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, (8) And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. (9) And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. (10) And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
IN CONCLUSION:
There have been MANY that have tried to apply many interpretations as to what the Leviathan is in Job. As for me, I simply believe that the EASIEST ANSWER is satan as I understand the scriptures. There is a motto that says… If the easiest answer makes sense, seek no other sense.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as YOUR savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins – See 1 Cor. 15:1-4.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved – Acts 16:31
The moment that you do, YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.
John 10:28-29 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (29) My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
