QUESTION… 2 questions, Q1- In Luke 1:15 how is it that John the Baptist was filled with Holy Ghost (KJV) in his mother’s (Elisabeth) womb before his birth. Q2- In James 1:21was does superfluity of naughtiness mean?
(Luke 1:15) For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.
(James 1:21) Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
ANSWER: The simple answer to Q1… is that John the Baptist was a UNIGUE SITUATION, nowhere else in scripture do we find this taking place. John the Baptist had a Job to do and that was to proclaim the news of the coming saviour The Lord Jesus Christ…
(John 1:29) The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
So in order to do this the Holy Ghost (Spirit) had to be ready to go into action from day one.
Now for Q2 a person has to admit that the translators of the KJV had a way with words, superfluity of naughtiness in the Greek basically means “The Vile, Wicked, Evil, Rotteness that boiles up from the bottom of the cauldron”.
Or in other words The excess and overflow of Wickedness or Malice.
These kinds of people you want to stay far away from IF all possible, because they are VILE in lifestyle, WICKED in word, EVIL in action and their whole character is just plain ROTTEN and it just spews out of them like a pot of hot water that is boiling over.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as YOUR savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins – See 1 Cor. 15:1-4.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved – Acts 16:31
The moment that you do, YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.
John 10:28-29 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (29) My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
– Christ AROSE as proof that God accepted Christ payment for your sins – 1 John 2:2, Matthew 28:6, 1 Peter 3:18
–BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
