QUESTION 669

By: Robert Serreyn

QUESTION… I commit alot of willful sins, Do you think that God will still forgive me?

ANSWER:
First let me ask, “Do you know FOR SURE that you are going to heaven? IF NOT then do not hesitate to put your trust in the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ by believing he completely paid for your sins on the cross for you MAY NOT have tomorrow to do so.
2 Corinthians 6:2 For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; (2) By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. (3) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; (4) And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.

If you DO KNOW for sure then let’s continue…

The Apostle Paul knew all about the struggles of the flesh (Romans 7:15-20)

For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. (16) If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. (17) Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. (18) For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. (19) For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. (20) Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

But don’t get me wrong, this verse IS NOT a loop hole to just go out and commit uncontrolled sinful behaviour, check out what Galatians 6:7 says…

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Christians just like the unsaved lost person WILL STAND before Jesus Christ and give account of themselves for their Actions, Words, and Thoughts as well as our Unactions, and Unsaid words.

Romans 14:10-12 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. (11) For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. (12) So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Revelation 20:11-15 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. (12) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. (13) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. (14) And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. (15) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

NOW there are those that will quote 1 John 3:8,9 and say SEE if that person was REALLY SAVED they would not commit willful sin, to that I say ok Mr. Self Righteous, EVEYBODY (including myself) commits willful sin, we are human, that still dosesn’t make it any less wrong. Sin is of Satan (Devil – V8) and the seed mentioned in V9 is the Holy Spirit (whosoever is born of God). Our flesh (Old Nature) sins and alot of times WILLFULLY but our New Nature (Holy Spirit) DOES NOT SIN.

In Conclusion…

If we do sin EVEN WILLFULLY, yes God will forgive us (1 John 1:9), BUT not without consequences to consider like the lost of Joy in our life, Blessings from God, Rewards up in Heaven (1 Corinthians 3:11-15), and maybe even including an early death if we don’t put restraints upon our sin.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 Corinthians 11:30-31 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. (31) For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as YOUR savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins – See 1 Cor. 15:1-4.

The moment that you do, YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.
John 10:28-29 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (29) My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

– Christ AROSE as proof that God accepted Christ payment for your sins – 1 John 2:2, Matthew 28:6, 1 Peter 3:18

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”.
Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
