Question Fifty Five

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? I have heard it is Moses and Elijah, or Enoch and Elijah, Who are the Two Witnesses spoken of in Revelation?

Answer:

We are NOT told who the two witnesses are in Revelation 11:3, Verse 4 of Chapter 11 gives the Old Testament prophecy (Zechariah 4:2 – 3) of the two witnesses, but again they are NOT named, God has withheld the names of these two men, they are more likely going to be two men that are saved AFTER the rapture.

I do not believe the two witnesses are going to be the ones listed in the question above BECAUSE all of them had died.

REASONS Why it CANNOT be Moses, Elijah or Enoch

1: Moses was ALREADY in his heavenly body at the Mount of Transfiguration – Matthew 17:1 – 4

(1) And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

(2) And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

(3) And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias(Elijah) talking with him.

(4) Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias(Elijah).

2: Elijah – Genesis 5:24, and Enoch – 2 Kings 2:11 – Both of these men were translated(raptured) up to heaven – they were an Old Testament TYPEOLOGY of the rapture which would be spoken of in 1 Chrinthians 15:52 and 1 Thessalonians 4:16 – 17.

Elijah and Enoch physically died and recieved their glorified body as they were raptured (translated) up to heaven.

1 Corinthians 15:50 says:

“Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.”

Also in Hebrews 9:27 the bible states:

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment”

Revelation 11:7 says that satan will be ALLOWED to kill (put to death) the two witnesses AFTER their purpose that they were sent for by The Lord Jesus Christ was completed (SHARING THE GOSPEL – Acts 16:31) therefore if it was any of the ones listed in the question above it would contradict scripture (1 Corinthians 15:50, Hebrews 9:27) and that would making God a liar and the author of confusion which HE IS NOT- Romans 3:4, 1 Corinthians 14:33

(Romans 3:4) God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

(1 Corinthians 14:33) For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

In conclusion:

God DID NOT reveal WHO the two witnesses would be, but he knows, and that it is not for us to know or make conjecture (quesses) who they would or would not be, God just wants us to trust him and his word, for the christian we have NO NEED to know the names of the two witnesses we will be raptured up to heaven before the Lord sends them out in their ministry to SHARE THE GOSPEL – Acts 16:31 to all the lost for the first three and half years of the tribulation period.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

A. Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

B. Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

C. BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell & the lake of fire); but the GIFT of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
