Question Forty-Three

Question? I have heard from some people that there are two gospels that God used in the bible, one for Old Testament times, and one for the New Testament, is this true not sure what to believe?

Answer:

What you just describe is what is referred to as Hyper or Ultra Dispensationalism, it is a belief system that teaches that God had a gospel of Faith +Works in the Old Testament, and a gospel of Faith + Grace in the New Testament.

The PROBLEM with this view is that they say that God had different conditions on how to be saved depending on what side of the cross a person was alive on. Just to clear up any confusion God is NOT the author of confusion but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 1 Corinthians 14:33 but rather man is when he misapplies or misinterprets scripture –

(Romans 3:4) God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

The ERROR of Hyper/Ultra Dispensationalist is in the fact that they FAIL to understand that ALL of the Old Testament sacrifices were TYPOLOGIES of Christ shedding his blood as payment for sin.

A simple thing to keep in mind is, the Old Testament christians LOOKED FORWARD to the cross when Christ WOULD die and shed his blood as payment for their sins, The New Testament christians (which includes us in the church age) LOOK BACKWARD to the cross when Christ DID die and shed his blood as payment for our sins.

God ALWAYS had and never has had more than ONE gospel in both Old and New Testaments, There is ONLY ONE WAY to be saved and that is: (Acts 16:31) And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. To teach that there is or was two different gospels is FALSE DOCTRINE and leads to GREAT confusion, Just keep in mind they LOOKED FORWARD to the Cross(will happen- future), and we LOOK BACKWARD to the Cross(has happened- History).

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was buried and three days later rose from the dead to pay for your sins.

A. Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

B. Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

C. BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell & the lake of fire); but the GIFT of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
