Question 557

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? In Romans 5:10 the word Reconciled is used, in verse 11 the word Atonement is used, What is the difference?

Romans 5:10-11 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. (11) And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Answer:

The word ATONEMENT in Romans 5:11 is the only place where it is used in the New Testament, It is a Mis – Translation which has brought “Much Confusion” to the average christian.

The word ATONEMENT is an Old Testament word meaning “COVERING”. The blood which was shed for sin in Old Testament times ONLY COVERED the sins of the sinner from the sight of God.

The word RECONCILED means EXCHANGE that is to say Christ became the Subsitute and took the place of the sinner whereby God “Made Provision” (payment) for the sins of the sinner THROUGH Christ death.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

In otherwords…

Christ is the Reconciler who has reconciled the sinner unto God by His Cross.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

In Conclusion:

In order for the EXCHANGE from going to hell to going to heaven can happen a person MUST ACCEPT the payment (provision) that Christ has made for them on the cross by BY BELIEVING that the Lord Jesus Christ went to the cross to Die and shed his blood, was Buried, and Three days later Resurrected from the dead as payment for their sins, the very moment a person does, their sins, are MARKED, completely paid for eternity and is allowed entrance into heaven.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
