Question? is Matthew 24:40 – 42 is speaking of the rapture?
(Matthew 24:40-42)
Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. (41) Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. (42) Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
Answer:
NO, The context of Matthew 24:40 – 42 is in reference to the second coming of Christ and the 7 year Tribulation period.
The rapture was not revealed until the Apostle Paul had made it know (by inspiration from the Holy Spirit) in 1 Corinthians 15:51 – 52
The Apostles and the early christians of this time period knew NOTHING of the rapture or the church age in which we live in today, That is WHY the apostles thought that the Lord Jesus was going to setup the kingdom then – Matthew 18:1.
(1) At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
Jesus would have setup the 1,000 year kingdom IF the Jews would have NATIONALLY recieved him as their Messiah(saviour) – John 1:11, for he (Jesus) had preached mostly about the kingdom for the king (Jesus) was here.
(John 1:11) He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
The simple interpertation of Matthew 24:40 – 41 is:
1. The one taken: is the one taken unto judgement, (cast into hell, then 1,000 years later into the Lake of Fire) at the end of the 7 year tribulation period.- Matthew 25:41, Revelation 20:11-15
(Matthew 25:41) Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
(Revelation 20:11-15) (11) And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. (12) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. (13) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. (14) And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. (15) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
2. The other left: is the one left to enter into the 1,000 year kingdom of Christ.
The 1,000 year kingdom of Christ begins with ALL SAVED people NO unsaved people.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to known IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
The ABC’s of Salvation:
A. Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
B. Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
C. BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
