Question 364

Question? Sir, please explain “Sow Thy Seed” in Ecclesiastes 11:6?

Ecclesiastes 11:6 In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.

Answer:

To start off with, the words “In the Morning” and “In the Evening” speak of priorities.

For example:

a person gets up in the morning, gets dress, eats breakfast and gets ready for work or for that days activites etc.

In the evening a person comes home, cooks supper, eats, showers, and whatever then goes to bed to get ready for the next day.

Every person puts certain priorites to things that need to be done, In the morning, such as getting ready for the work day, and In the evening such as going to bed to prepare for the next day.

So “In the Morning” and “In the Evening” SPEAK OF priorities.

Sow Thy Seed: this in reference to SHARING (sow) the Gospel and the Word of God (seed).

The Bible states in…

Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

As the Bible states it is WISE to win souls and that SHOULD BE our daily priority regardless if it is Morning or Night.

– Withhold not thine hand:
In other words DO NOT neglect the most important priority of sharing the Gospel and the Word of God to who you have opportunity with.

The Bible states in…

1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

In all truthfulness we are to be READY at all times.

– For thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that:

Simply stating that you or I DO NOT know everything like God does. When we share the Gospel and the Word of God we have no idea if a person has trusted Jesus Christ UNLESS we see outward evidence of that faith – James 2:18.

Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

But God SEES before we know if that person believed and is saved – Romans 4:3

For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

– Whether they both shall be alike good:
In other words if you have shared the Gospel and the Word of God with someone you have had opportunity with whether they believe or not IS NOT your responsibility you have DONE GOOD they are held accountable
with what they do with the Gospel.

Romans 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

IN CONCLUSION:

Make everyday a PRIORITY whether day or night (In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening) to share the Gospel with a lost person or the Word of God to another who may be asking (sow thy seed).

Lets DO GOOD and not hold back the truth (withhold not thine hand) for we DO NOT know (for thou knowest not whether shall prosper) WHO will believe on Christ if we will just be faithful.

1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins. the MOMENT you believe(TRUST in Christ ALONE) you recieve eternal life.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
